The Election is Coming – Are You Prepared?
September 12, 2022 01:00 PM
Election Day is coming up Nov. 8 – which means now is the time to make sure you can vote.
If you’re not already registered and you’re eligible to do so, register now! The deadline to register to vote in the November 2022 election is Monday, Oct. 24.
If you are already registered to vote, review your information to make sure it is current and correct. The deadline for name, address and/or party affiliation changes is also Monday, Oct. 24.
Once you’ve made sure you’re registered, make a plan to vote. You can choose from any of the following:
Vote by mail-in or absentee ballot
You can apply online right now to receive your no-excuse mail ballot. You can also apply online for an absentee ballot, if you cannot vote at your polling place on Election Day. A few important deadlines to remember if you choose these two methods:
- If you are requesting your mail ballot online, you must request it before 5 p.m. Nov. 1.
- If you are requesting your mail ballot in person at your county elections office, you must request it by close of business Nov. 1.
- If you are planning to visit your county elections office, request your mail ballot, fill it out and return it all in one visit, you will need to do so before close of business Nov. 1.
- If you are mailing your mail ballot or returning it to a drop box (or other officially designated location), remember: Your ballot must be received by 8 p.m. on Nov. 8. Mail ballots received after that time, even if postmarked by 8 p.m. on Nov. 8, will not count.
If you plan to return your voted ballot by mail, we recommend mailing it by Nov. 1 to avoid postal delays.
Vote in person on Election Day
Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 8. Don’t forget to verify where your polling place is. If you need to arrange transportation, be sure to do so in advance. If you are voting for the first time in Pennsylvania, you will need an appropriate form of ID. And remember: If you are in line by 8 p.m., stay put! You will be allowed to vote.
