Changes to Subsidized Career Training Programs

Effective July 1, 2024, new United States Department of Education rules relating to eligibility to receive Title IV and HEA funds will go into effect. 

These changes may impact new students who enroll in educational programs that exceed the minimum number of hours required by statute and/or a Board's regulations to obtain licensure.

In addition, schools offering educational programs to prepare students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation, including those regulated by this Board, will be required to provide specific information to the DOE about the educational program and the Board's requirements for licensure. 

The Department and individual Boards are unable to provide specific or general legal advice regarding the new rules to potential students or institutions offering these programs. 

Potential students are encouraged to visit the Department of Education website, www.ed.gov, and speak with their school/educational institution for more information about how the new rules may affect their educational goals and ability to qualify for Title IV and HEA funds.
