Jessica Mathis was appointed the director for the Bureau of Election Services and Notaries on February 9, 2019.
In her role as director, Mathis oversees the Election Services and Voter Registration divisions along with Notary Commissions. The bureau is responsible for planning, developing and coordinating the statewide implementation of the Election Code, voter registration process and notaries public law. The bureau also issues commissions and maintains a repository for all state legislation.
Prior to being appointed director, Mathis served as chief of the division of Elections and Voter Registration for nine years. During this time, she worked closely with county election officials, overseeing the administration of elections. She first joined the department in 2007 and worked for a year as a legal assistant in the division of Campaign Finance and Lobbying.
Mathis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management from the Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA.
Mathis currently resides in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, with her husband, Paul, and two daughters, Gina and Erin.
