FUNERAL DIRECTOR VACCINE STATUS

Funeral directors are listed under the "Health care personnel" are defined by ACIP as paid and unpaid persons serving in health care settings who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients or infectious materials. These health care personnel (HCP) may include, but are not limited to, … persons (…mortuary…) not directly involved in patient care but potentially exposed to infectious material that can transmit disease among or from health care personnel and patients. This category is slated to receive vaccines in Phase 1A.

The vaccine that comes to Pennsylvania is from Operation Warp Speed, which is a public–private partnership initiated by the U.S. government to facilitate and accelerate the development, manufacturing, and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania does not control the allotment amounts, and thus it is difficult to predict how quickly they will be available. Please refer to the PA Department of Health's website for updated information regarding the online dashboard to view the progress of vaccination distribution and locations of enrolled providers who will distribute the vaccine, which may include hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), pharmacies, or a large physician's practice.
